Firstly you need to put the XMP files into the same folder as their raw files. The XMP files will be in a zip folder on the FTP for easy transfer, so you need to download it. Then double click to open the zip. Copy the XMP files into the same folder as the raw files, so that they appear like this:
If the files are not currently in your Lightroom catalog (i.e. you’ve never imported them)…
then you simply need to import them, making sure your Develop settings to apply on import is set to None.
The images should import with the new settings already applied. They will usually be marked with 5 stars to show that they’ve been adjusted.
If the files are already in your Lightroom catalog and you just need to update the settings…
then select the applicable files while in Grid view, and go to Metadata menu > Read Metadata from Files.
As the images update, you will see the progress bar gradually progress through the selected images.
And finally, after any additional processing you may wish to do, you need to export the images…
to your preferred file format such as Jpeg and your choice of colour space, using the normal Export dialog.
You’re all done!
